I am a retired special education teacher, so do have some experience behind my comments. They have household chores that they know they have to have done each week. Are they just being surly, or is there another explanation? As a teacher, I very much appreciate students advocating for themselves. I want them to focus on being kids while they still can. We have a problem in our society with over parenting whether that applies to you or not. My son finds joy in checking the boxes.
We don't always say what we mean When we're high off our American teen My youth is the foundation of me Oh, I'm proud to be American.
We used trial and error for both boys. You are right that when they drive themselves, they will be able to then decipher if something is important enough to go back for or not. It is a struggle to know if we are doing right or wrong by our kids today. It often comes back to bite them in the butt. It worked like a charm and they always got themselves up for school! Maybe you could get a job at your childs school so they will never have to be responsible for themselves.
